Your Fan Page Wall… All Posts, or Only Posts By Page?

You’ve probably noticed that a fan page can set the wall view to posts by the page only, or posts by both the page and fans. I’ve seen a number of each searching through various fan pages, and it got me thinking about why a fan page admin would want to hide posts by their fans.
If you’ve followed us for any period of time, you’d know that we believe that the value in social media for businesses is interaction. If you’re interacting with fans who post on your wall, it makes sense that you would want other people who happen upon your page to see that interaction.
This makes sense, as most of the fan pages I find that have “only posts by page” visible are solely broadcasting information and not interacting with users. Do I want to like a page that won’t respond to me if I try to interact with them, much less hide that post from users who land on the page? Absolutely not.
Think about this with your own page. Does your fan page invite users to post? We recommend turning your wall to settings to “all posts” and start interacting.

I am finding that seems to be the problem. Facebook is a different kettle of fish. It is all about interacting, updating, keeping current, asking people questions
