Create your own graphics with 2 free sites!
So one question or request we get a LOT is the need for graphics. I personally have created my own graphics for years using shortcuts that I learned because first of all I didn’t always have hundreds of dollars to throw at graphic designers and second I always needed them NOW and didn’t want to wait. So here is a video to show you how I do this using a Mac program called Keynote. This will also work with Microsoft Powerpoint as well as the Open Office version.
I mention 2 sites in this video. Here are links to the site:
Jing Project. CLICK HERE to visit their site and download. This is a tool that we use on a daily basis ourselves to send screen shots and you can also make screencast videos to share with friends or colleagues when an explanation just does not do. This is one of the best free tools I have ever seen online! It really is a must!
Picnik. CLICK HERE to visit their site. This is a tool I personally use to edit all my graphics or pictures before I upload them to Facebook or any other photo sharing site…if they are personal photos that is. This is a really cool site!
Be sure to comment and let me know how this works for you! Show off your graphical work!
If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I have been a social media marketer going on 3 years. I have been an Internet marketer for over 14. I was a spammer back when that meant entrepreneur. I have always worked hard for what I have and never went to college. I did however tour some colleges just out of high school playing music, so I guess I lived the life without the large loans. I never liked working for other people. I always knew that someone else was making a fortune from my hard labor; I built houses and then sold cars. I do what I love and love what I do! Oh and I love my wife, kids and dogs. Kitty...you're OK I guess...

Hi David, Great post. I've been using pages for some time to do similar things. One problem I am encountering at the moment. I am trying to replace my profile picture. Make up a graphic which I then "captured" with Jing. The size is 169 x 514 pixels and is just 176kb. I then go to edit my profile picture size and try to upload the file (png) but the message I get back is "the picture is too wide or tall. Try to pick something closer to a square" I thought that the size could be 600 h x 200 w?
Or am I doing something dramatically wrong! (Most likely)
Would appreciate any insights please.
Absolutely Awesome and informative video, i'm gonna have a great time playing around with grahics
Where do you get your picture stock from for the business people??
David, just looked at both of these graphics products, they look great. Graphics are part of what I do, and people should realize they are not as difficult as most think.

Wish I had a Mac, will dig up my Powerpoint. I use Picnik I have a yearly membership for it and it is awesome. I also got a great tool web graphics creator which is not expensive and I built my like page with it as it was sooo easy. thanks for the tips, you need more tutorials for people who are not lucky enough to have Macs though ;)
I have to say..I was ALL PC up until about 5-6 years ago and once I got my first MAC, I was totally blown away at the ease of use vs. the PC. I also like the fact that I do not have to worry as much about virus threats and have never had ONE issue with it.
Thanks for you for your comment!
I always use <a href="http://www.istockphoto.com" target="_blank">www.istockphoto.com. You can find all kinds of sites out there that do this, but I have found that iStock has the best selection.
Snagit is really cooooooooooooooooool
Makes easier to post on various other blogs.
Thanks David and the team

Hey Peter...the acceptable size is 200 wide by 600 high. I actually just added a new one to our account yesterday that was this size and it worked just fine. I am not sure why you would be getting this error. We also mostly use PNG files without issue. Can you try creating one that is those exact dimensions and see what happens? Did you by chance "claim your location?" I am not familiar with these types of pages, but I do know there are some differences in the sizes for claimed business pages...keep me posted!
Hey David
Thanks so much. Tried again but with the exact size of 600 x 200 and it worked a charm this time. Really appreciated your prompt reply and help. You can check out the result at facebook.com/durras
hey david :),i just downloaded jng and it doesnt seem to work.when i try to run the exe it says its not a valid win32 application?? thanks
Hello Daniel. I am sorry but I cannot offer support for Jing. You will have to visit the techsmith website and put in a support ticket. Sorry about that! Once you get it though, it's an awesome program!
David, like you I'm always finding free things online to use, free sites and blogs to build etc. Amazing how much exists for the using at no cost. I've made some pretty good book covers with a powerful and free graphics editor called inkscape. Might be more than some people need but you can do about anything with it.
Thanks Jason. Yes I even used to use Open Office for all of my documents when I was a PC user because of the price tag on the microsoft office software, but once I went with Mac, their version which is part of the iWork product and is actually only about $80 and much better in my opinion. If we just look we can always find things that can do what we need for next to nothing...

Yes I used to get so frustrated waiting for graphics etc. and decided one day to try myself and actually found that it is fun...and just like anything else, the more you do it the better you get. Thanks for the comment Michael!
