760,000 Tweets about Obama’s State of the Union Address [Infographic]

(hubze) Just to get this out of the way first, this is not a political blog post but one about social media. I have gone on a “Political Fast” until after this year’s election when it comes to discussing politics on social media. Causes too much divisiveness and people get their feelings hurt!
But I wanted to share with you some stats that came out from Twitter just now regarding the number of tweets sent out during the State of the Union Address last night. I personally didn’t watch it as it came on during bath and bed time for my kiddos. It’s on the DVR, but I doubt I’ll watch it. But it looks like alot of you did watch it and many went to Twitter to discuss it.
Twitter promoted the hashtags #energy, #jobs, #manufacturing, #education and #fairness. The hashtag that saw the highest number of tweets was #education, seeing about 36,000 tweets.
The infographic below shows you the timeline of when tweets were sent and shows you members of Congress that were tweeting. I wonder if they were tweeting inside the gallery or had an intern doing it for them during the event? What if the SOTU address was sent only via Twitter one day? hmmmm
Did you tweet during the address? And if you did what parts made you tweet? Sound off in the comments.

Wonder how many of the 760k said "lets throw the bum out"!
