I think having urls to your website and other accounts won't be a big deal. Or like I have done in putting different logos on it. It's the blatant ads that FB is aiming at IMHO. ~Scott

I forgot that had popped up the first time I added a cover photo. Will be another one of those grey areas. And how Facebook would ever enforce it I don't know. I doubt they are sitting around looking at every photo! I think mentioning where you work isn't in violation. But maybe adding something to it like "Come get 25% off of my XYZ product" could be a violation. ~Scott

Scott the message that says you cannot use your profile banner for commercial use pops up when you choose to opt-in to the new timeline. I'll see if I can find the screen shot to get the exact terminology.

lol, I have done the same. It's probably a good thing to keep changing them out so your viewers have something new to look at.

I take it back. Section 4 #4 says:" You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser)." That's the only thing regarding doing business on a profile Facebook has ever mentioned. ~Scott

The Terms actually changed here recently. I see no mention about business or ads on a profile now. http://www.facebook.com/legal/terms

We are able to post any photos we want on our profile, photos that say who we are and what we love doing so I don't see how it would be any different with the cover photo if you want to display what you do for a living or your favorite MLM. Does anyone have the link to the terms where it spells this out? Maybe I read something different.

It's a bit of a grey area and something alot of people debate. But all I see is the TOS telling us not to sell our profiles to advertisers. So basically the kind of gigs you see on Fiverr sometimes where people are getting paid to post a link to their "5000 friends". That kind of stuff is against the TOS. But Facebook has never said you can't talk about where you work on your profile. ~Scott

That's not 100% true Forrest. The only thing Facebook really mentions when it pertains to business and a personal profile is not selling space or advertising on your profile. Meaning you can't sell people your posts to advertise for them. But I don't see any mention of the cover story as it relates to mentioning your own business. The only thing I've ever seen is them saying you can't for example have people pay you to post something. ~Scott

Yeah the Cover Photo is very nice.

Love it, it's another way to promote yourself or your company with a custom designed banner at top in which now we can design for our customers. Loving it!

I love Timeline.

I see it as alot less cluttered and more organized than ever. The old profile is dull and you can't find anything. With the Timeline you can. And my biggest problem with social media, blogs and etc is once you post something it dies. But with this some of your old posts will get revisited and that's a good thing. ~Scott

Dislike. Very cluttered. Unfocused. Too much information. Disaster for brands and businesses who want to stay focused on the present...

My bet is at some point they weill Nessa Carey. Usually pages follow the changes to profiles 4-5 months later.. ~Scott

The way I have seen facebook change over the last yr or so it makes no difference in any changes they make, now or in the future, as they will happen whether you like it or not. The only control you have over facebook is deciding to use it or not to use it I doubt MZ will lose any sleep over it either way.
